<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure> NEW DELHI: India’s largest telecom operator by subscriber numbers Bharti Airtel<\/a> has committed to rollout 6000 new mobile sites along with 3000 km of optic fiber in FY2018-19 to expand its network in Assam<\/a> and other North East<\/a> regions.

\n“The rollout will translate to 16 new mobile sites being deployed per day, taking the total number of Airtel sites in the region to 25000, going up by 31% and taking ,” the company said in a statement.

\nThe telco claims to be the top operator across Assam and North East with over 12.4 million customers in the region.

\n“Assam and North East are key markets for Airtel and we remain fully committed to bringing innovative and best-in-class services to our customers in the region. We will continue to invest aggressively in these markets,” said Raveendra Desai, CEO, Airtel North East & Assam.

\nAirtel’s network umbrella in the region covers urban, semi urban and rural areas and remote locations like Lumla (Arunachal Pradesh), Tuipang (Mizoram), Dawki (Meghalaya) and Longwa (Nagaland).

In December 2017, Airtel had signed an agreement with the Department of Telecom and Universal Service Obligation Fund (
