$\"\"$ NEW DELHI: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed the UP government to furnish a status report on the FIR filed against founders of Ringing Bells by April 5 and directed that no coercive steps be taken till then against the three accused.

\nThe FIR was filed by BJP MP Kirit Somaiya against Mohit Goel, Dharna Garg and Ashok Chadha, founders of Ringing Bells, for misleading advertisement and collecting money under a ponzi scheme.

\nThe bench of Justice B K Narayan and Justice Shashi Kant was hearing a Criminal Writ Petition filed by the Ringing Bells founders for quashing the FIR.
\n
\nThe bench also directed Goel, Garg and Chadha to submit their passport to SSP, Noida within 24 hours.
\n
\n“We have nothing to hide. We are committed to affordable smart phones to people of this country and we shall achieve that. We will stick to fair practices and comply with regulations in our great country,” Goel, a director at Ringing Bells, said in a statement.

The company said that all advances collected for smartphone Freedom 251<\/a> from customers were refunded by the authorized payment Gateway CC Avenue, to customers in the last week of February 2016.

\nNoida-based BPO Cyfuture had earlier filed a police complaint against Ringing Bells alleging fraud and non-payment of dues, and had sought Rs80 lakhs from the makers of the smartphone priced at Rs 251. Apart from the police compliant, Cyfuture was also planning to file a separate defamation case \"worth crores\" against the handset maker, alleging an attempt to tarnish the company's image in the market.

\nRinging Bells has also faced queries from the Income Tax department, the Enforcement Directorate and Department of Electronics and IT. ED officials are understood to have quizzed the promoters of the company on their business model.
