<\/div><\/div>He said that market in India was just the like the US a couple of decades ago. Currently in India, 4G<\/a> LTE networks are being expanded and capacities are underutilised.
\u201cThat coupled with the significance of microfinancing at retail locations, and products at an affordable price. When you have of those ingredients, I think it\u2019s really going to start to take off,\u201d the executive said.

Mehta said that PC penetration in India was less than 3%, compared with say 60% in the US, and the major reason for under-penetration was the lack of connectivity \u2013 because of negligible Wi-fi availability and poor and unsecure performance where it is available - which led to India becoming a smartphone-first market.
\u201cAnd I believe that there is a real opportunity there, in that there is a pent-up demand. And so, when you bring in a device at a cost point that has LTE connectivity, you have now given them a significant value at a form factor that\u2019s connected to the Internet to be productive or watch video,\u201d said Mehta.
He said that besides the legacy OEMs for PCs including Dell<\/a>, HP, Lenovo<\/a>, Asus and Acer, handset makers who are in the PC space but are small players would want to partner with Qualcomm to launch the new devices in India. \u201cThe OEM base may shift a little bit in the device category.\u201d
