As a result, broadband services have also become non-functional in the locality.

A number of users, who are dependent on broadband services, said, “At a time when all important works like payment of electricity and phone bills, ticket booking, applying for jobs, filling up admission forms and shopping, have gone online, how can be live without internet connectivity?”

According to retired banker A K Sinha, frequent disruption in telephone and broadband connectivity has made life miserable. “I am helpless. How will I stand in a queue to pay telephone and electricity bills,” he asked.

Non-availability of broadband services has also paralysed work in several cafés located in the area. Many job aspirants, who had been waiting for important e-mails, were unable to do so, sources said.

Anisabad telephone exchange SDO claimed the telephone cables were badly damaged due to road construction work in the area. “Efforts are on to replace the damaged cables and rectify the faults,” he said.
