\nApple has posted 5% increase in its overall revenue at $45.64 billion. The company’s profit increased 7.4 percent to $10.2 billion. The company's iPhone shipments surged 17 % to 43,719,000 units, while revenue iPhones increased 14 percent to $26.06 billion.

\nRegion-wise, revenue from America increased 2% to $14.31 billion, while revenue from Europe grew 4% to $10.23 billion in Europe. Revenue from Asia Pacific region increased 17 percent to $2.62 billion in rest of Asia Pacific, whereas China's revenue grrew 13 percent to $9.28 billion.

\nRevenue from Japan went up 26 percent to $3.69 billion.

\n\n\tApple has stepped up its focus on sales in the mid-range segment, re-introducing the iPhone 4, which was discontinued in September this year, in the country. Priced at Rs 22,990, it is the cheapest iPhone in the market currently.\n

\n\n\tPrices of other iPhone models have also dropped in Indian market, although not officially. iPhone 5S carries an official price tag of Rs 53,500 for the base variant, but is now available online for Rs 47,000.\n

\n\n\tSimilarly, the plastic-bodied iPhone 5C can be purchased for Rs 37,000 for the 16GB variant, even though it was launched at Rs 41,900 and has not received any official price cut yet.\n

\n\n\tThe cashback offer on iPhone 5C entails a minimum discount of Rs 13,000 on the three-year-old iPhone 4, while newer smartphones fetch higher value.\n

\n\n\tiPhone 4S got a price cut in November last year, with its price dropping to Rs 31,500. However, Apple soon started a buyback offer on the model, bringing the price down to Rs 24,000. Online retailers are selling the model for approximately Rs 24,000 without any exchange offer.\n

\n\n\tApple has also teamed up with several retailers and banks to provide EMI schemes in order to soften the burden on buyers' pockets.\n

\n\n\tThese schemes and offers show a softened stance on Apple's part, which has traditionally focussed on the top-end segment, even in price-conscious markets like India.\n

\n\n\tIt was in October-December 2012 quarter that iPhone sales in India went up by 400%, the first time Apple started a buyback scheme for iPhone 4.\n

\n\n\tAccording to the latest IDC data, Apple is the third-biggest smartphone maker in India in terms of value, raking in 7% share of the overall market.\n
