To help the two ailing state-owned telcos, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) overcome their long salary dues and meet the daily cash flow requirement, the government intervened and introduced a Rs 69,000 crore worth four-step revival process on October 23, 2019. The new long-term prepaid plan offers a validity of 600 days, in addition to benefits like unlimited free voice calling facilities in the home and national roaming zones, including MTNL<\/a> network in Delhi and Mumbai circles.

However, the FUP has been capped at 250 minutes per day and once the FUP has been exhausted, subscribers will have to pay Re 1 extra for local calls and Rs 1.3 extra for ISD calls.
