\"The Budget should enhance infra spending. And once the allocation is done, the implementation part would be equally important to focus on. This will help businesses and the economy as a whole,\" Tongia told ETCFO emphasizing that speedy execution of infra spending is critical to India's pursuit of becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2025.

The government should also extend the export incentives, whichever are possible, to the Indian manufacturing industry to make it further competitive so as to meaningfully counter China's presence in global markets, the finance executive said.

Manufacturing can be further boosted by providing production-linked incentives, he said.

Ease of Doing Business

Polycab CFO said the government must ensure that while cracking down on miscreants, the ease of doing business does not get affected, and that compliant businesses are incentivized. \"A fair balance needs to be maintained between the cost of non-compliance and that of compliance. The rules must be drafted considering both compliant and non-compliant businesses,\" the CFO signed off.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will announce the Budget on February 1.
