Bengaluru:<\/strong> OnePlus<\/a> co-founder Carl Pei<\/a>’s Nothing is allowing the general public to invest up to $1.5 million in the consumer technology<\/a> company as part of a community funding round.

This financing round will be at the same valuation as the firm's $15 million Series A funding round led by Alphabet<\/a>'s GV last week. The shares will be available to users on a first-come, first-serve basis with pre-registrations starting on Tuesday, the company said. Nothing has raised a total of $22 million to date.

The financing round is being done via British equity-based crowdfunding platform Crowdcube. Pre-registered users will get access to the crowdfunding campaign early next month, which will be opened up to the general public later in the month.

Investors who become part of this community funding round will get access to Nothing's private community through which they will get exclusive benefits and insights into the company, the firm said.

\"We want our community to be part of our journey from the very start and play an active role in it.\" Pei said \"As part of this process, we'll also be electing a community member to our board of directors, so that we’re always kept in check, and reminded of what users want.\"

Nothing is developing a pair of wireless headphones along with a suite of smart, connected consumer electronics that is expected to debut later this year, Bloomberg reported last month.

On Tuesday, 9to5Google reported that Nothing is also now the sole owner of Android creator Andy Rubin's now-defunct smartphone brand Essential that had shut down early last year.
