Based on IDC<\/a> data, the Indian smartphone market grew 8% YoY to ship 152.5 millio units in 2019, against the backdrop of a declining global market (-2.3% YoY). With this, the Indian market surpassed the US to become the second-largest smartphone market globally.
India smartphone market shipped 36.9 million units in 4Q, up 5.5% YoY and down 20.8% sequentially. The cyclical dip in 4Q repeated as channels looked to clear leftover inventory from the heavy build-up in 3Q ahead of the festive season, as per IDC.
