\"Ciena<\/figure>NEW DELHI: US-based telecom gear vendor Ciena<\/a> has bagged a deal from Lightstorm Telecom Ventures<\/a> (LTV<\/a>), an independent and carrier-neutral infrastructure provider in India. Under the deal, Ciena has deployed coherent optics, network management and advanced automation software enabling LTV to serve the country\u2019s OTT, data center and cloud providers.

This deployment will transform LTV\u2019s metro and long-distance network to support the delivery of low latency and high-capacity digital services.

LTV\u2019s network covers more than 10,000 kilometers and 60 data centers in five cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad, as well as strategic subsea cable landing stations providing high-capacity connectivity to Mumbai and Chennai.

<\/div><\/div>\u201cThere is new demand for OTT and content optimised networks. They are designing the network designed for national needs. It is serving large B2B companies that need high capacity and highly available connectivity solutions,\u201d Ryan Perera, vice president and country head, Ciena India told ET.

\u201cThey have a clean state network. They have managed to design a super express network from ground up which is efficient. It will reflect in cost and quality of service,\u201d Perera said.

\u201cInvesting in networking solutions and software from Ciena equips our customers with unmatched speeds and programmable network capabilities,\u201d said Amajit Gupta, chief executive officer, LTV. \u201cTogether with Ciena, we\u2019re helping to further establish India as a hub for international connectivity.\u201d

LTV has the NLD<\/a> license to run NLD and metro networks in India and it will serve large enterprises and over-the-top (OTT) players in the country.

With an upgraded network, LTV makes Digital India<\/a> a reality and fuels the next wave of telecom growth, Perera said, adding that the demand for cloud and data centers is rapidly growing.

<\/div><\/div>Perera added that there is an accelerated movement towards hybrid multi-cloud in the enterprise market. \u201cLarge enterprises want multiple clouds for high capacity and lower latency.\u201d

Ciena is already helping OTT players through its partnerships with Indian telecom operators.

Ciena president and CEO Gary B. Smith recently revealed that the company has been winning business specifically around the Huawei replacement in India. Roughly about 25% to 30% of the total infrastructure in India is with Huawei. \u201c...it takes time because you got back office systems, etc. But they seem to be approaching this more aggressively than the European carriers. I think that's for sure,\u201d Smith had said.
