NEW DELHI: Networking<\/a> giant Cisco<\/a> said that it will start manufacturing<\/a> operations in Pune early next year, making India its 12th country with manufacturing facilities. Countries like the US, Mexico, China, Brazil and Malaysia, already house Cisco's manufacturing facility.

\n\tCisco said that it will manufacture and roll out a diverse product portfolio in India to support the government’s Make in India initiative. Cisco will use its India manufacturing operations to produce and ship orders for customers in India, as well as for testing, development, logistics, and in-house repair capabilities.

\n\tThe company said that the manufacturing is being kicked off to scale up operations in India and eventually make the country an export hub for its products.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile the company did not disclose the investment details and number of jobs that will be created, it said the move will help further drive its strategy of having presence across development, sales and now manufacturing in India.

“Today's announcement underscores India's strategic importance to Cisco's global operations. We have made significant investments in India since we established operations in the country in 1995, and today’s announcement is another milestone in deepening our commitment to India.
