Cognizant<\/a> has appointed former Microsoft executive Shinji Murakami<\/a> as Head of Japan<\/a> and a member of Cognizant's Global Growth Markets (GGM) leadership.

Murakami will be based in Tokyo. As the head of
Cognizant Japan<\/a> KK, Cognizant’s Japan subsidiary, he will lead the strategic expansion of the company in the country.

He joins Cognizant from Microsoft, where he was the Managing Executive Officer of the company’s Enterprise Group. He was responsible for leading sales teams focused on engaging the C-suites. Murakami has over 30 years’ experience leading managed services, mobile communications, business development in the IT industry.

Prior to Microsoft, Murakami spent 12 years at
Hewlett Packard<\/a>, where he was General Manager of Enterprise Services<\/a> for Japan. He has also held senior leadership roles at Softbank Telecom, IBM and DXC Technology.

Cognizant’s approximately 700 professionals in Japan serve over 60 customers, including insurance, life sciences, telecommunications, technology and manufacturing companies. Established in April 2008, Cognizant Japan KK has offices in Tokyo and Osaka. In 2017, the company acquired Brilliant Service Co headquartered in Osaka, Japan, specializing in digital strategy, product design and engineering, the Internet of Things (IoT), and enterprise mobility.
