The Cool 1 has dual 13MP rear cameras in a vertical layout, placed in the center of the phone. When you open the camera app, you’ll see something called SLR mode. This is the mode that uses the dual cameras to capture images with a depth of field effect. When using this mode, the phone takes a second or two to process and save the image. After the image has been captured, you can change the aperture value to increase or decrease the depth of field. In our tests, we were impressed by the image quality of the system. Sure, the edges are not as sharp as the Honor 8. And they can’t even dream of coming anywhere close to the iPhone<\/a> 7 Plus, but these are phones at very different price points.

\nEven in the normal camera mode, the photos captured have good details with rich colours. While daylight pics are great, indoors there is visible noise when viewed on a larger screen of a laptop.

Build quality is like what most mid-range smartphones<\/a> now offer — a full metal unibody design for premium look and feel. There is a fingerprint scanner on the rear that works great while the right side of the phone has the power and volume keys. The front has a 5.5-inch full HD screen that impresses with good brightness levels and vibrant colour. However, as expected in this price range, the screen has thick black borders\/bezels.

\nSpecifications are great for the price - it has the powerful Snapdragon 652 processor with 4GB RAM. The phone has no issues playing games or full HD videos. Even with over 20 apps running in the background, it shows 1GB RAM free. You get 32GB non-expandable internal storage and while this could be enough for some users, some people will run into out of storage errors after a couple of months. The other issue with the phone is that battery life was lower than expected (it has a 4,060mAh battery). It’s not bad — most users will still get a full day, but we expecting more given the size of the battery. Luckily, fast charging support is included.
