Deloitte<\/a> CEO N Venkatram announced the promotions<\/a> in a mail sent to all Deloitte employees a few days back. Most of those promoted were on the tech side, said a person in the know.
Traditional expertise such as assurance and compliance continue to be important as clients prepare to scale up in the post pandemic thrive phase, but as most companies vie for digital presence that has seen maximum growth, said a person close to the development.
“Most of those promoted as partners include directors with new and emerging technology skills, expertise including cloud, cyber, digital and analytics,” he said.
Last year too, Deloitte had taken a contrarian call amidst peak of Coivid pandemic and promoted 30 partners.
All the 30 partners that were promoted also saw a jump in their salary.
As per the big four model, a partner-- depending on his seniority and function-- earns at least Rs 1 crore per anum.
Deloitte usually announces partner promotions in April first week but the rigorous process starts in September. The candidates have to go through multiple interviews with business leaders and partner committees.
ET on Tuesday wrote that even as Covid<\/a> pandemic saw the consulting firms putting a hold on their hiring initially, 2021 has seen a spurt as they prepare traction in some of their businesses. Top consultancies including BCG<\/a>, PwC<\/a>, KPMG<\/a> and Grant Thornton together hired more than 11,000 people, of which around 5,000 were hired directly from campuses this year. The firms are mainly hiring to strengthen their digital offerings.
The pandemic had taken a toll on the top line of all the firms. Some top lawyers and consultants, who charge clients by the hour and are now working from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have seen their fees slashed across assignments as cash-strapped clients renegotiate and question the time actually spent on the job.
Most firms have witnessed improvements in the last few months as several Indian companies started investing in digital space. Top firms have been helping companies innovate and implement their digital presence.
