"We are committed to innovating the customer experience, and with Rakuten, we have deployed fully automated and virtualised 5G network," Maria Martinez, Chief Customer Care Officer at Cisco Systems said.
Rakuten has been deploying a greenfield 5G mobile network and has earlier implemented network functions virtualization infrastructure (NFVi) with 4,000 edge nodes from the networking major.
This, according to Cisco is one of the company's ambitious initiatives after it has deployed all IP-based 4G network for India's Reliance Jio and wanted the two-big ticket deployments as case studies to further strengthen telco business worldwide.
Martinez added that Cisco helps companies from planning phase as well as execute timely implementations and innovate systems.
The Tokyo-based telco is spending more than $5 billion on the new cloud-based network.
Cisco's Rakuten alliance, according to the US company initially appeared to be challenging, but a close collaboration helped the networking major to bring end-to-end automation and assurance, software-defined programmable infrastructure, and carrier-grade telco cloud.
The networking giant has also released Business Control Services 3.0 that according to it, would help organisations to experience expertise powered by analytics and insights.
The networking solutions company is also banking on its smart cameras-- Cisco Meraki that, according to it, are cloud-managed, bandwidth conscious, and simple to deploy and configure with embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI).
"This is one of the most successful products from the Cisco portfolio," Todd Nightingale, SVP at Cisco Meraki said, and added the solution is a super reliable and most immersive way to see videos through 3D cameras with multi-domain storage capability, with automation making device more powerful.
Cisco Meraki is a real-time camera that can monitor retail stores, bank branches, and manufacturing facilities.
"The company is in the process to launch application-control capability and has set up policies for content filtering," Brian Roddy, SVP, Cisco Security said.
The company's cloud security takes a holistic view of all applications and automatically places those running under audit. It brings SD-WAN security robust and, according to Roddy, customers would not need to deploy hardware or patches.
The networking major has also created DevNet automation exchange and revamped certification suite to facilitate customers, partners, and developers.
"Networking has changed with automation and machine learning today," Cisco DevNet CTO, Susie Lee said, and added that Cisco's wireless training help tremendously in network deployments.
"We have certified 1.8 million professionals and 9 million graduates around the globe, and with new DevNet
certifications, train individuals for new job roles," Lee added.
The company continues to bank on its traditional collaboration business and built-in innovation to bring cognitive collaboration touching 300 million people worldwide.
"The technology is fundamental to bring about changes. We seamlessly help teams and people to connect," Amy Chang, Vice President at Cisco Collaboration said.
Companies such as Ford Motors, Procter & Gamble and Splunk have already deployed the company's collaboration solution.
