\"\"NEW DELHI: The department of telecom<\/a> has raised a demand of Rs 6,953 crore with Reliance Communications<\/a> (RCom<\/a>) for liberalization of its airwaves across 16 circles.

\nThe total demand includes the market price of Rs 5,384 crore and a one-time spectrum usage charge of Rs 1,596 crore as well.

\nAccording to sources, the company had applied for liberalizing its airwaves in the 850 Mhz band across 16 circles and the permission will now allow the company to trade\/share its spectrum with any other telecom operator. ET had reported that the company was in discussions to trade and share spectrum with Reliance Jio Infocomm.
\n
According to the
DoT<\/a> guidelines, the spectrum will be liberalised for the period of their right to use left as per licence terms held by the telecom operator.
\n
\nTelecom companies are required to make payment within 30 days from the date demand note is issued to them and the telecom operator in question will have to pay auction determined price prorated for the balance validity period, as per the guidelines.
\n
As far as the issue of one-time spectrum usage charge(
