India’s largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services<\/a> (TCS<\/a>) is in no hurry to amend the new organisational structure put in place last year, its CEO Designate K Krithivasan<\/a> said on Wednesday. Gopinathan who will stay on till September 15 to carry out a smooth transition said that the two leaders will go on a tour to meet major customers in the next few weeks. Krithivasan who was the head of the company’s BFSI vertical said that he will now have to familiarise himself with non-BFSI verticals and will work towards it.
In March 2022, the IT behemoth organised the entire company into four new business groups, as it is eying the next milestone of $50 billion in revenues by 2030 by bringing a greater focus on clients. It was speculated that there was unrest among senior employees in the company after the new operating model was put in place last year.
As per the new structure, the existing customer “acquisition” unit will bring in new clients, the new “incubation” business group will handhold clients who are at an early stage of engagement with the company- ideally customers below the $20 million revenue range. Once they mature to a wider range of requirements they will be serviced by the existing “growth” unit which comprises 200 industry service units (ISUs). Finally, the largest customers with long term engagements- ideally $100 million plus clients- will be moved to the new “transformation” unit.
The four new units created were– Acquisition, Relationship Incubation, Enterprise Growth and Business Transformation. The groups were created based on the size of revenue that the individual client provided TCS with the goal to move each client into a next group by acquiring additional business from them. The idea was that each group head reported directly to the top management, therefore creating a direct layer of communication for even the smallest clients with the top management.
Krithivasan, 58 became the oldest candidate to become chief executive officer of TCS. Krithivasan headed the BFSI vertical for almost a decade before he was elevated to the BFSI leadership in 2017 and has extensive experience with large deals and growth and transformation programs.
