\"\" NEW DELHI: Former telecom secretary Shyamal Ghosh<\/a> has become the new Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC<\/a>) chairman, a note by the council said.

TEPC<\/a> also elected chief executive of Tejas Networks<\/a>, Sanjay Nayak as a co-chairman while revamping the new governing council for 2017-18.

The council was set up by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry<\/a> and the Ministry of Communications to promote the export of telecom equipment and related services.

Ghosh formerly served as a secretary in the department of telecom and IT<\/a>, and is credited for initiating the formulation of the Information Technology Act 2000.
\nTEPC will benefit from his deep understanding and rich experience in the telecom sector as well as foreign trade, the body in a statement said.
