Apropos the Edit, ‘For Economy<\/a>’s Sake, Let Telecom<\/a> Live’ (Aug 2), the government<\/a> should treat telecom like highways and railways, in which public funds by the billion are poured to improve the nation’s infrastructure. However, the government has used telecom as a proverbial milching cow and made the lives of early players more difficult. Telecom companies have borrowed billions from banks and have provided jobs to millions of low-skilled jobseekers. By fixing a very high entry fee, the government is ignoring its responsibility to support formation of capital in the sector and improving the much-needed infrastructure.
