SAN FRANCISCO: Calling the shift to cloud an \"inflection point\" in the history of computing, Google<\/a> CEO Sunder Pichai said that in the future almost everything will be done in the cloud as there will be no better way of doing things. He was speaking at the Google Cloud Products (GCP) Next 2016 conference in San Francisco, a platform through which the Mountain View headquartered firm is trying to underline its aggressiveness towards cloud.

\"As a primary thing, we have sealed up the infrastructure, and now we are opening it up so that every business across the world can use it,\" said the Chennai born Pichai. Snapchat and
Spotify<\/a> are some of the marquee customers of Google's cloud products. And Pichai also gave the example of an animation studio in Mumbai which is using the services to produce a movie, underlying the uptake that these services are finding in emerging economies such as India.

Google recently got on board Diane Green, founder of virtualisation firm VMware as it tries to catch with rivals such as Amazon Web Services,
Microsoft<\/a> etc. As it goes forward, the company is placing big bets on machine learning and data analytics which complete the ecosystem and enable in offering better products and services.

\nIn a blog post, Google said that as part of its continuously evolving ecosystem, the company is bringing innovations like machine learning and big data analytics so customers can easily spot new trends and new markets early. \"Users are tapping into the power of Google BigQuery to process trillions of rows in seconds — building streaming data pipelines with Google Cloud Dataflow, and we’re bringing Google Data Studio 360to our cloud customers for visualization and reporting,\" it said.

Google also said that some of the companies which have signed up for its cloud services includes firms such as
Best Buy<\/a>, Disney Consumer Products & Interactive Media, Domino’s Pizza, FIS Global, Spotify, Macy’s,Pocket Gems, Wix, Atomic<\/a> Fiction, JDA and Heineken.

\nAlso speaking at the conference Green said, \"Google is not only making sure that its networks provide full security and privacy but are also committed to open source.\"

\nThe company plans to add 10 new regions by 2017 and announced two of them in US Western region in Oregon and East Asia region in Tokyo, Japan. Both will be operational later this year.
\n
\nUrs Hölzle, Senior Vice President for Technical Infrastructure at Google said that a majority of the new regions will be in Asia however he did not specify if India will be one of them.
