<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI: The growth in the digital sphere must be inclusive so that all the sections of society and the country should be benefitted, a top government official Monday said.

\"All growth in the digital world<\/a> must be inclusive in terms of benefitting all sections and regions of the country, and giving products with immense social utility,\" Anshu Prakash<\/a>, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT<\/a>) said at this year's curtain-raiser event for the Indian Mobile Congress.

The prestigious event will be organised by the Delhi-based Cellular Operators Association of India (
COAI<\/a>) together with the DoT between December 8-10, 2020.

Last year, there was a huge success while the unprecedented Covid has brought in huge challenges to the Indian Mobile Congress, and along with challenges, emerge this opportunity to host the virtual event, the top official said.


Prakash said that through the three-day event, the industry would be able to showcase its strengths virtually.
We are able to connect digitally and rise to the occasion. he said, adding that the industry has played a remarkable role during the lockdown in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, and due to telecom carriers state authorities and law enforcement agencies were able to operationally connected.

What we do today, should be sustainable to future generations environmentally and economically, the official added.

This year, the mega-industry event is expected to see 15,000 active viewers with as many as 100 speakers, and more than 60 exhibitors.

Sanjay Dhotre<\/a>, Minister of State for Communications in a recorded video message said that the industry has created a robust telecom infrastructure, and the number of base transceiver stations has increased by 220% since 2014.

\"India has emerged as the second-largest mobile phone manufacturer today,\" Dhotre added.

\"The Covid-19 impacted the telecom sector and it's a chance to do its best, and the sector has done well when needed most,\" Ajay Puri, Chairman COAI and COO at
Bharti Airtel<\/a> said.

Puri further said the telecom industry has become important for economic growth.

\"This is the first time, we are organising this event (IMC) digitally, and we'll be able to provide a personalised experience,\" SP Kochhar, director-general, COAI said, and added that the industry would be discussing opportunities and issues which the sector is facing.

This year, the event is into its third edition, and previously saw participation from industry captains including
Reliance Industries<\/a> chairman Mukesh Ambani<\/a> and Bharti Airtel's Sunil Bharti Mittal in addition to industry leaders worldwide.
