US-based data storage device manufacturer, Micron Technology<\/a>, is in advance-level discussions with the state government to invest Rs 75,000 crore ($10 billion) here, according to top state government sources. The official announcement is expected in a few weeks, sources said.
\"Allotment of at least three lakh square metre land parcel between Ahmedabad and Sanand is being finalised by the company. Talks with the state departments are underway,\" according to a state government source privy to the development. \"The company will soon announce setting up a manufacturing facility for data storage devices<\/a> along with assembly, testing, marking and packaging (ATMP), here.\"

In August last year, Vedanta-Foxconn signed a memorandum of understanding with the state to set up the country's first semiconductor fab unit<\/a>, a display fab unit and a semiconductor assembly and testing unit at Dholera - which has been declared as a Semicon City.
The Centre has also notified four schemes to enable development of sustainable semiconductor through the India Semiconductor Mission<\/a> (ISM) which provisions Rs 76,000 crore to support projects.
