KURUKSHETRA<\/a>: The police have booked unknown persons<\/a> for allegedly damaging Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited<\/a> (RJIL) towers near Anand Hospital and a Kar Sewa Gurdwara under limits of Kurukshetra University (KU) police station.

An official of RJIL, Bhupinder Singh<\/a>, lodged a complaint and a case has been registered against unknown persons under Section 25 (to commit mischief, damages to any machinery, telegraph lines) of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at KU police station on Wednesday.

Bhupinder stated to the police, “Essential telecom services provided by RJIL have been sabotaged by certain miscreants, who are engaging in illegal activities and damaging public and private property. These miscreants also denied RJIL’s employees access to the infrastructure and centres by threatening them and using illegal.”

Investigation officer (IO) assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Arun Kumar<\/a> said, “The incident dates back to December 24, 2020, when some persons disconnected the supply wires of Reliance Jio<\/a> tower near Anand Hospital and a Kar Sewa Gurdwara in Kurukshetra. We are making efforts to identify accused persons and a case has been registered on Wednesday, after a representation was received.”
