\"Heirless<\/figure> Cats, they say, have nine lives. The iPhone 8<\/a>, which has been heirless for the better part of three years, may be about to get a successor. In the fall of 2017, Apple debuted the iPhone X<\/a>, an upgrade over the iPhone<\/a> 8. The company\u2019s executives missed a number. Fanboys missed a heartbeat. The iPhone X was everything the iPhone 8 was not.

The designers had given it an all new face sans Apple\u2019s trademark elements. The departure from the iPhone family\u2019s signature looks led many to ask if the iPhone X were adopted. The LG V10 and the Essential Phone PH1 had dabbled with smartphone notches before the iPhone X made the trend go mainstream.

A new report by the Japanese blog \u2018Mac Otakara\u2019 claims that the iPhone SE2, which is slated to be released next year will be called the iPhone, in part, due to it featuring the same chassis as the iPhone 8.

<\/div><\/div>The iPhone SE2 nee iPhone 9 is expected to please Apple enthusiasts who resented the company\u2019s decision to do away with a physical home button in new phones after the launch of the iPhone X. The device is likely to sport a 4.7-inch displays, an A13 Bionic chip, 3GB RAM, bezels, and Apple\u2019s signature home button. It could start retailing upwards of USD 399.

\"Heirless
The iPhone SE2 will go into production in January 2020, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, and will hit stores at the end of March. The display size is also likely to please users who favour smaller phones \u2013 a segment which had to make a trade off with regards to processing power in order to pick up a smaller iPhone that did not have the latest generation processors used in bigger siblings.

The new phone is expected to use a 10-layer Substrate-like PCB (SLP) for its motherboard \u2013 the technology used in the iPhone 11. Since the body takes forward the same design of the iPhone 8, it will benefit existing hardware manufacturers that are already a part of Apple\u2019s supply chain. The SLP on the iPhone SE2 is likely to cost slightly less than that which does duty on the iPhone 11 range.

Some of the features that may not make it to the iPhone SE2 include 3D Touch and Face ID<\/a>. It will be available in space grey, silver, and red. Other Apple products that could hit the market in early 2020 include a new version of the MacBook, an iPad Pro, and an augmented reality (AR) headset.
