<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI: Homegrown telecoms equipment maker HFCL<\/a> Monday said it has received approval as a ‘Trusted Source<\/a>’ from the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS’ Trusted Telecom Cell).

NSCS is part of the National Security Council who advises the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on matters related to national security and strategic interest.

“With this approval, HFCL has become the ‘Trusted Source’ for all Indian Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) for sourcing their telecom active network products and infrastructure and has become one of the few companies to have received the ‘trusted sources' approval in the Country,” the company said in a statement.

“Our inclusion in the select list as one of the trusted source is a distinguished achievement and reinforces our commitment to delivering Make in India world-class products\/solutions and contribute to further accelerating our Hon’ble PM’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat with greater zeal,” said Mahendra Nahata, Promoter & Managing Director, HFCL.

The Central government had launched
Trusted Telecom Portal<\/a> on June 15 for providing clearance to trusted products that telcos can install in their networks as part of the National Security Directive<\/a> on the telecoms sector.

Under the directive, telcos have to access the portal and specify the telecom products they wish to procure and from which vendors. After this, the government would contact the concerned vendors to submit the details of the products on the portal.

Once the vendors have submitted the required details, the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) will decide whether the products can be deemed as ‘trusted’ or not.

ETTelecom had reported in July that Chinese
telecom equipment<\/a> makers Huawei<\/a> and ZTE<\/a> have started documentation processes to nominate their “India Registered Entities” to interact with the Trusted Telecom Portal through its authorized Nodal Officer and to get login credentials for accessing the portal.

Notably, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, and HFCL as well as telecom operators had received access to the said portal during the beta trial phase. However, other vendors were yet to receive access.
