Subscription revenues increased over 5 times to Rs 129.5 crore between FY16 and FY17, while revenues from advertising grew at a moderate pace of 24.4% to Rs 168 crore.

According to analysts tracking this space, Hotstar is one of the major Indian OTT platforms to compete with the likes of international players
Netflix<\/a> and Amazon Prime Video<\/a>. \u201cHotstar\u2019s subscriber base has seen a significant jump, the company had over 30 million users in August 2016 and hit over 60 million users in August 2017, besides its price point, the content offered by the platform is diverse, with something for everyone,\u201d said an analyst, speaking anonymously to ET.

\"Hotstar<\/figure> Another analyst claimed that the session time for subscribers who watched content on Hotstar had more than doubled from 2016 to 2017. \u201cFrom over 4,000 million minutes in August 2016, the company saw subscribers spend over 15,000 million minutes in August 2017, the demographics of its users vary from youngsters to senior citizens, including those in metros and tier 2 and 3 cities,\u201d said the second analyst.
