I maintain a personal and professional to do list. Before leaving home, I like to clarify on what I will get done for the day on both the lists. Unsurprisingly, a lot of personal items gets knocked off over the weekends and professional items over weekdays. When I observe that items are languishing in one list or the other, that's an indicator that I am slacking on one part of life. These lists combined with my calendar has time blocked for everything including slots for checking emails, hobbies, lunch etc. However, I don't beat myself up for slipping. To me, that's a part of being human. The goal is not to become a robot but be aware of how my time gets spent. I believe that the technique itself is not as important as the intent to balance life and work.

Who is your inspiration? What motivates you?

The source of my inspirations has changed many times in my journey and I expect that it will continue to change in the future, too. Originally, I was very inspired by the founders of my first company (Yahoo!). Then, Google's Page and Brin too as they were executing better. Then, I was inspired by Steve Jobs. Closer home, Phani of Redbus (my college senior) and Sachin and Binny Bansal (my ex-bosses) provided that much needed inspiration. The ideals of Gandhi motivated me to become a kinder person.

I observe that my heroes changed as my goals changed. I started with wanting to create an impact. Then it progressed to making money, being famous to being a better human being and helping other people realize their full potential.

Uniquely, younger people at my office motivate me a lot too. Their ability to create and their energy to innovate is addictive.

What is your stress buster?

Writing. I set aside some time every day and write everything that runs through my mind in my diary. They say that meditation is about observing one's thoughts. In order to write, one needs to observe their thoughts. As long as you write your thoughts without tinkering with it, it becomes an easy form of meditation.

What is it about the world that upsets you the most?

Climate change. I wonder if our current ways of life are sustainable.

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

Myself. Once we become kinder and self-aware, anything we do will make the world a better place

Which is your favorite book/author?

There are so many of them. Guns, germs and steel blew my mind. One of the recent books I enjoyed a lot was "A search in secret India" by Paul Brunton.

Your all-time favorite movie?

There are so many of them. Recently, I enjoyed Dr. Strange (English), Rockstar (Hindi) and Soodhu Kavvum (Tamil).

Your favorite actor/actress?

Aamir khan is aging like good wine. Radhika Apte is quite good too. However these days, the actor or actress doesn't seem as important as the movie itself.

What is your favorite cuisine? Favorite restaurant(s) on your must-go to list when traveling overseas, for work or otherwise?

Mexican and Andhra meals for the spice, Continental for the salads. Japanese for finger foods, Thai for the main courses and French for the art work of their desserts. Japanese Hojicha tea and Goan single malt Paul John are my favourite drinks. To me, the town of Lyon in France is all about food. Zeni's in the bay area serves fantastic Ethiopian. Monty's restaurant in Jakarta is quite nice too. Singapore street food is impressive.

Had you not been in the current role/profession, what would you choose to be doing?

I would be studying psychology. And if given an opportunity, I would be excited to be of service to Startup founders and CEOs as their life coach.

Which is your favorite holiday destination(s)?

近家,Phani Redbus(我的大学高级)和萨钦Binny Bansal(我前)提供急需的灵感。
