The 3400-3800MHz range is the primary 5G band in Europe, several Arab countries, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, and China. A recent Standing Committee headed by Parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor says, \u201cGlobally seven operators have deployed 5G in lower band, 82 operators have deployed in mid-band and more than 8 operators have deployed in mmWave [millimetre Wave] band.\u201d The minimum requirement is of 100MHz of prime mid-band and around 1GHz of spectrum per operator in the high band. GSA says that at least 80\/100MHz per operator are needed to support the initial 5G use cases to get the most benefits from the 3300-4200MHz mid-band spectrum. The pricing conundrum <\/strong> Below is a comparison of price of spectrum discovered through auctions in several countries. While there is a wide range of price difference for the spectrum in the same brand, one can see that INR492 crore per MHz for mid-band spectrum is several times higher than the price of spectrum in other countries.
