NEW DELHI: The overall feature phone shipments<\/a> in India recorded a marginal growth of 2% on-year, led by Transsion Group’s Itel<\/a> with a market share of 20% and Samsung<\/a> with 19% share, according to CMR<\/a> Mobile Handset Market<\/a> Review Report for Q4 2020.

While Samsung and
Nokia<\/a>’s shipments grew by 47% and 7% on-year, respectively, Itel and Lava<\/a> shipments witnessed a minimal decline of 2% and 4%, respectively.

Transsion Group brands (Itel, Infinix, and Tecno) combined feature phone and smartphone shipments grew 32% on-year.

In particular, Tecno registered a remarkable 161% on-year growth, followed by Infinix (81%) while itel recorded a huge 260% on-year growth in smartphone shipments.

Itel overtook Samsung to lead in the overall feature phone segment in CY 2020, the report noted.

Nokia, in the fourth position, grew 7% on-year to gain a market share of 17% in the quarter while
Karbonn<\/a> in the last position declined 10% on-year and had the lowest share of 5%,

Despite its uncertain future, LG shipments recorded an exceptional 210% YoY growth.

Micromax re-entered the smartphone market. It grew 75% on-year and is expected to increase its market share along with Lava in the smartphone market in 2021.
