<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>NEW DELHI<\/a>: First International Quantum Communication Conclave<\/a>, conducted by the Department of Telecommunications<\/a> concluded on Tuesday with homegrown companies such as Gurugram-based Vihaan Networks<\/a> (VNL<\/a>) and Pune-based Sterlite Technologies<\/a> (STL) recognised and awarded for their roles in the areas of telecom technology and skill development.

The two day conclave was organised in association with the Centre of Development of Telematics (C-DoT), Telecommunications Standards Development Society India (TSDSI), and IEEE Communications Society<\/a>, Delhi Chapter, on March 27 and 28 at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan.

The standards on the ‘Test Guide of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) System’ and ‘Quantum-Safe and Classical Cryptography System’ were released.

Several experts, industry<\/a> executives, government officials, and academia discussed the possible applications of quantum technologies in building a secure communication infrastructure.

Few domestic companies were presented with the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Skill Excellence Awards – 2022.

The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Skill Excellence Awards’ have been instituted by the Department of Telecommunications to encourage the telecom ecosystem for their outstanding contributions in the areas of telecom skilling, services, applications, and manufacturing.

Minister of Communications Ashwini Vaishnaw<\/a> and Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan<\/a> awarded the winners for their contribution under various categories.

STL bagged the prestigious award for its contribution in skills development, VNL received the award for developing and manufacturing solar-powered 4G (fourth generation) technology, Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space facilitated for its work in satellite communications (satcom) area.

“I dedicate this award to our Founder and Chairman, Sh. Rajiv Mehrotra who has relentlessly worked for the advancement of the domestic telecom equipment manufacturing industry and for working towards designing, developing and commercializing world class telecom infrastructure products and solutions, which did not exist earlier in India.” Udit Mehrotra, CEO & MD of VNL said.

VNL offers solar power-based 4G\/LTE cost-effective products that, according to the company, can be easily deployed and maintained for longer life cycles.
