In the tumultuous last year of its former CEO Vishal Sikka’s tenure, the company lost a slew of executive vice presidents most of whom has joined the company after Sikka took over. Current CEO Salil Parekh had said he did not believe in bringing in outside talent and that Infosys had significant management bench strength.
The company also named Ashiss Dash global head of its Resources and Energy division, replacing Sudip Singh who left in January to become CEO of ITC Infotech, the source added. Dash has been with Infosys for 23 years.
“Dash was appointed in February after Singh left. Swaminathan was made EVP in January. There were a lot of exits in the EVP rank before and after Sikka left so this helps in filling that bench,” an Infosys executive told ET. He declined to be identified.
Infosys declined to comment.
Swaminathan’s profile on professional networking site Linkedin shows his elevation to EVP. ET has reported that Infosys carved out a separate telecom unit last year to better capitalize on the IT spend of global telecom companies.
The Bengaluru-headquartered company also held its annual strategy session on Goa late last month, which focused on its progress in achieving digital targets, the urgency of expanding its employee base in the United States and expanding its large deal teams.
Bulking up on talent to help it win large deals is one of the few places that Infosys has brought in outside executives. ET reported last year that the company had brought in executives from IBM and CSC to fill out its strategic pursuits team.
