Bengaluru:<\/strong> Digital payments<\/a> and financial services provider, Pine Labs<\/a> on Wednesday announced that it has picked a majority stake in payments solution provider, Mosambee<\/a>.

With the investment by Pine Labs, Mosambee is now valued at upwards of $100 million, the company said.

The investment comes at a time when Pine Labs is gearing up for its public listing in the US<\/a> and has been raising funds. ET reported on March 29 that the company had raised $50 million <\/a>from London-based private equity major Vitruvian Partners, valuing the payments fintech at just over $5 billion.

In February, Pine Labs had also raised $150 million <\/a>in a mix of primary and secondary funding from Alpha Wave Global. The merchant focussed fintech has been on the lookout for fintech-based software and infrastructure providers to bolster its offerings to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as launch newer offerings.

As a part of the current deal, the leadership team at Mosambee will continue to operate independently.

Founded in 2008, Mosambee offers merchant payment solutions for online as well as offline merchants including mobile point of sale (mPoS) system as well as a wallets payment system. It has clients in India and six other countries.

“At Pine Labs, we continue to focus on deep technology and SaaS. Ever since its founding, Mosambee has made tremendous inroads into elevating the merchant experience through cutting-edge fintech solutions. They were a natural fit for us due to our shared purpose of making innovative fintech products accessible to all and driving forward the digital payment revolution in India,” said Pine Labs chief executive, Amrish Rau<\/a>, in a statement.

Last year, Pine Labs acquired Singapore-based loyalty payments startup Fave<\/a>, to bolster its presence in Malaysia, Singapore and other Southeast Asian geographies. It had plans to offer unified payments interface (UPI)-based payments to consumers in India, through the acquisition as well.

This year, it announced the acquisition of Mumbai-based online payments startup Qfix Infocomm for an undisclosed sum<\/a>, to offer business software tools including online invoicing and workflow management to new-age direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands. ET also reported on February 2 that the company was in talks to acquire API-based fintech infrastructure startup, Setu. <\/a>

“Mosambee today caters to a wide array of businesses, from SMEs to private and government entities to leading banking institutions in India. With extensive reach of Pine Labs and their portfolio companies, we aim to continue to deliver strong profitability and breakthrough solutions to our clients,” said Sameer Chugh, cofounder of Mosambee.

In February, Mosambee had also announced the acquisition of Benow, a digital payments and EMI technology platform. The acquisition will help Pine Labs further as it tries to scale its ‘Pay Later’ proposition to newer markets outside India.

As of March, Pine Labs claims to have more than 250,000 merchant relationships across over 675,000 merchant network touchpoints in India and Southeast Asia.
