Qualcomm Technologies and Jio also announced that they achieved over a 1 Gbps milestone on the Reliance Jio 5GNR solution, leveraging the Qualcomm 5G<\/a> RAN Platforms. This achievement not only supports Jio\u2019s 5G credentials but also signifies the entry of Jio and India into the Gigabit 5G NR product portfolio.
\u201cToday I am very excited to announce that with Qualcomm\u2019s technology and support, Jio has indigenously developed a 5G RAN<\/a> product that has achieved over 1 Gigabits of throughput,\u201d Oommen said at the event. He added that the product is already tested and validated by a tier-1 carrier in the US.
<\/div><\/div>\u201cHaving already virtualized Jio\u2019s 4G and 5G core network functions in fully software-defined and cloud native, we are working towards an end-to-end transition including the RAN components to be containalised network function in a micro services framework,\u201d Oomen said.
Qualcomm Ventures, the investment arm of Qualcomm Incorporated, is investing Rs 730 crore in Jio Platforms for a 0.15 % stake.
