The pipeline buried 1.2-meter deep was damaged near CMS chouraha at around 10am, which blocked the supply of liquefied petroleum gas in Vipul Khand, Vishal Khand<\/a>, Viraj Khand<\/a>, Vinay Khand, Vineet Khand, Viram Khand<\/a> and Vivek Khand.
By the time this report was filed, officials of GGL claimed that it will take another three hours to restore the supply of cooking gas.
Speaking to TOI, GGL spokesperson SP Gupta said: \"Around 3,000-4,000 household in Gomti Nagar were affected on Tuesday after a private telecom company laying optical cable damaged the gas pipeline. The contractor who was working on behalf of the telecom company did not inform GGL or took permission before digging trench along the gas pipeline.\"
\"This was the sixth incident this month. An estimate of the damage and loss incurred by leak of gas would be sent to the telecom company, but more importantly the negligence on the part of telecom company had made our customer suffer. Our team is trying to restore the damaged pipeline,\" he said.
According to GGL, gas pipelines were damaged on December 2 in Vijyant Khand, December 9 in Amrapali Chowk, December 12 in Gomti Nagar extension, December 14 in Indira Nagar, December 17 in Anasa Golf City by various telecom service providers who are expanding their optical fiber services.
