NEW DELHI: Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek Wednesday expanded its Dimesity 5G<\/a> chipset lineup with the addition of Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 chipsets and said the latest chipsets will power 5G smartphones<\/a> expected to launch globally in Q3 2021.

The more powerful of the two — the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 920 — is based on a 6nm fabrication process and claims to offer 9% better gaming performance as compared to its predecessor — the Dimensity 900.

Its Arm Cortex-A78 processors can reach clock speeds of 2.5GHz and support LPDDR5 memory as well as UFS 3.1 storage.

On the other hand, the octa-core Dimensity 810 is also based on the 6nm process and comes with Arm Cortex-A76 processors with speeds up to 2.4GHz, LPDDR4x memory, and UFS storage support.

“Delivering a boost in performance, display intelligence and image brilliance, these new Dimensity chipsets will improve user experiences and deliver advanced 5G features and capabilities to 5G smartphones,” said JC Hsu, Corporate VP and GM of MediaTek's Wireless Communications Business Unit.

Additionally, both Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 support display refresh rates up to 120Hz.

However, only the Dimensity 920 can adapt the refresh rate according to the game or UI action detected.
