\nAmazon India’s principle legal counsel Gautam Vohra joins Hike as general counsel. Vohra is a legal expert in technology and intellectual property matters.

\nHike has also hired Hemant Goyal, former finance director for global supply chain at Unilever in Singapore, as vice-president, finance. Vohra \"will focus on building the legal, compliance and policy functions as the company expands to the next level of growth in India and envision a global footprint\", the company said in a statement when asked for confirmation.

Vohra’s appointment comes at a time when India is evaluating policy initiatives for regulating over-the-top (OTT) players that use telecom networks to offer their services through the internet. Hike is among the top OTT players in India, the ilk of which includes heavyweights WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger,
Skype<\/a> and Google.
\n
\nGoyal was an old hand at the consumer goods company for over 12 years in various roles and geographies.
\n
\nHike has been on a hiring spree over the last couple of months. In August, it roped in former PepsiCo marketing director Vidur Vyas as vice-president, marketing, and former general manager of Zynga Games - Sumit Mehra - as its studio head.

\nThe homegrown messaging app is looking to grow into a platform for content, media and services, even as it pushes ahead to cross the 100-million users mark by the second half of 2016.
