The company inaugurated a 30,000 sq feet office in Bengaluru, its largest outside its headquarters in Sweden. It will house around 200 employees.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar<\/a>, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology of India, attended the inauguration virtually.
\"(An) office in India is representative of the growth of India as a trusted technology partner to the world. The government's vision and focus is on enabling entrepreneurship and expansion of a vibrant innovation and startup ecosystem in India,\" Chandrashekar said in his virtual address.
Mamedi said 2023 being a \"strong year\" in general for the Indian economy will aid smartphone sales growth.
\"Truecaller does some partnerships with OEMs like Samsung for pre-installations. But it is not a big growth driver (in India). The pre-install strategy is more focussed outside of India. In India, (user) growth will be driven organically,\" Mamedi told ET on the sidelines of the event.
Truecaller plans to use this facility as its primary hub to deliver India-first features and serve users globally, it said.
Truecaller currently has 248 million users in India, accounting for over 70% of its overall users. It said around 80% of its overall revenue is driven by advertisements while 10% hails from subscription services and the rest from its Truecaller for Business offering.
