Barcelona: Smartphone maker OnePlus has unveiled a concept device featuring a cooling technology that can reduce the temperature of the handset by up to 2.1 degree Celsius, which will improve productivity, especially during gaming.

The technology can also bring the temperature down when charging by 1.6 degree Celsius, which can reduce the charging time by 30-45 seconds.

While unveiling the device on the eve of Mobile World Congress (
MWC), the company said it took two years of research to bring the cooling technology --Active Cryoflux, into the OnePlus 11 concept phone.

Such kind of cooling technology was earlier available only for gaming personal computers.

“Determined to push the limits, OnePlus miniaturized the industry-grade cooling capability of
gaming PCs into a smartphone. The state-of-the-art Active CryoFlux functions with the industrial-grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps at the center, connected to pipelines sandwiched between an upper and lower diaphragm,” OnePlus said.

The micropump takes up an area less than 0.2 cm, enabling the liquid to circulate around the pipelines without significantly increasing a phone’s weight and thickness.

Apart from the concept device, the company is showcasing its
OnePlus 11 5G at the MWC. The OnePlus 11 5G is the first Snapdragon Spaces ready phone, and it serves as an entry point for Snapdragon Spaces XR developer programme, allowing developers to bring their XR ideas to life. Other products being showcased at the flagship event include OnePlus Buds Pro 2, OnePlus Pad and OnePlus 45W liquid cooler.

The OnePlus 45W liquid cooler is a semiconductor-based thermo electric cooler that delivers enhanced cooling experience. With its innovative semiconductor water-cooling architecture, the cooler reduces the temperature of a working device by up to 20°C and can immediately enter safe mode - switching itself off to avoid damage if needed.
