NEW DELHI : Online fashion store Myntra<\/a> has launched its first smart wearable device ‘Blink Go<\/a>’ on Wednesday<\/span>. The fitness band<\/a> priced at Rs 4199 is set to be available in the market at the Myntra End of the Reason Sale (EORS) for a special price between June 22 and June 25<\/span><\/span>, according to a statement released by the company.<\/span>
The company said that the band is the first in line of ‘Myntra Wearable Platforms’ (MWP), a variety of wearables<\/a> which can discover and communicate with each other through a software platform called the Myntra Wearable Platform designed by the company’s innovation unit. The launch comes two months after the fashion commerce company acquired Bangalore-based smart watch company Witworks for an undisclosed amount.
“This is an exciting moment for Myntra as we foray into the connected wearable segment with our first product Blink Go which is a perfect blend of fashion and technology to help our customers keep track of their goals and stay fit,” Jeyendran Venugopal, Chief Technology Officer, Myntra, said, during the launch.
The band comes with features such as activity, calorie, distance, step tracker, heart rate sensor and can be connected to the smartphone to receive notifications and standard alerts, according to the company.
The smart wearable market is currently dominated by Samsung<\/a> and Fitbit<\/a> products. With over 60% population under 35, India is among the youngest nation in the world and is expected to be a growing market for smart wearable devices<\/a>.
“The market for smart wearables in India has been growing at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 140% over the last 5 years with 85% of the sales happening online. We are planning to bring in smart features through a combination of varied sensors and connectivity modules for audio wear, footwear, eyewear and apparels and are looking at acquiring 10-20% of the wearables market over the next 3 years,” Venugopal added.
