NEW DELHI: Netflix India<\/a> Monday slashed prices across its streaming<\/a> plans even as Amazon Prime<\/a> Video is said to have hiked the prices of its monthly, quarterly and annual membership plans.
Netflix<\/a> India’s basic streaming plan now comes at Rs 199, down from Rs 499 earlier, translating into the largest reduction of 60.12%.
The price of mobile plan has decreased by 25.12% to Rs 149 from Rs 199 earlier while the standard plan has seen a price reduction of 23.11% to Rs 499, from Rs 649.
Lastly, the premium plan is now available at Rs 649, down from the earlier price of Rs 799.
The over-the-top (OTT) streaming service has also started sending an email notification to subscribers of Rs 649 that they have been upgraded to Netflix premium plan at no extra cost.
“We just wanted to check in and share a bit of good news. We’ve upgraded you to our Premium plan for the same price! Starting today you can enjoy your favourite programmes and films in 4K Ultra High Definition quality, Your monthly price will remain Rs 649 with this upgrade. If you’d like to go back to your previous plan, you can change your plan to Standard for a lower monthly price,” the notification said.
