MUMBAI: NTT<\/a> Communications-owned Netmagic<\/a>, which claims to be the largest domestic cloud computing firm with around 10 per cent market share, is investing over Rs 1,200 crore to almost double its capacity by April.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe city-based firm will add 5 lakh square feet space by opening two new datacenters as part of the plan, which will take its total space to 11 lakh sqft, a top official has said.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Japanese tech major has already invested Rs 1,500 crore into the city-based company since it bought out the promoter Sharad Sanghi five years ago and will invest around Rs 1,200 crore more into these new data centres.<\/p>\n

\"Of the Rs 1,200 crore investment that's going into the upcoming new data centres in Mumbai and Bengaluru which will be commissioned in April, around Rs 960 crore will come from NTT Communications<\/a> the rest will be a mix of debt (Rs 200 crore) and internal accruals,\" Sharad Sanghi, MD & CEO of Netmagic told in a recent interaction.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company will be adding 5 lakh sq ft of space with these two new datacentres, taking its total storage to 11 lakh sqft, spread across 9 data centres, he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile the 3-lakh sqft Mumbai data centre will be at Chandivali commissioned early April, the 2-lakh sqft Bengaluru centre at Whitefield will be up and running from the end of April, he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new addition will result in it having as many as five of its nine centres in Mumbai alone.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company already runs seven data centers now with total gross capacity of 6 lakh sqft, Sanghi said, adding this will have the company hiring around 50 more people to add to its current staff strength of 1,200.<\/p>\n

\n\tThese seven data centres are in Mumbai (two in Vikhroli and one in Chandivali), Chennai, Mumbai BSE, Noida, Bengaluru (Electronic City). These centres serving over 2,000 enterprise customers across the globe, he said.<\/p>\n

\n\tSanghi set up Netmagic in July 1998 in Mumbai, as one of the first cloud computing companies in the country and sold it out to the NTT group five years ago.<\/p>\n

Some of its customers include the Hindu group of publications, BookMyShow (data centre), while cloud customers include TransUnion<\/a> Cibil, RBL Bank, H& R Johnson etc, and ItzCash in the security customers.<\/p>\n

\n\tSanghi said the company has been growing at 35 per cent per annum in the past five years and he is hopeful of clipping at that rate this year as well.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the revenue break-up, he said 44 per cent come from cloud, 42 per cent from co-location and the rest from remote managed services.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrom a sectoral point of view 25 per cent of its revenue come from banking & financial sector companies, a similar quantum each from media & e-commerce and ITeS (IT enabled services) players, 10 per cent from manufacturing sector, 5 per cent from healthcare and 2 per cent form government sector and the rest from others, Sharad said.<\/p>\n
