NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has overtaken OnePlus and Realme to emerge as the third-largest online smartphone player in the Indian market, according to Counterpoint India Smartphone Monthly Model Tracker 2020 November report. Two out of the top three devices sold were Poco devices, with Poco M2 and Poco C3 registering the most demand, the report noted.

Poco India achieved this feat within 10 months of launching itself as an independent smartphone brand with a portfolio of devices including
Poco X3, C3, M2, and M2 Pro, helping it overtake established brands such as Realme and OnePlus.

“Within the first 10 months of becoming independent, we are the 3rd largest online smartphone player in the market and even sold over 1 million units within the first week of the Big Billion Day sale on Flipkart,” said Anuj Sharma, Country Director, Poco India.

“These achievements underscores consumers’ overwhelming endorsement of POCO’s brand philosophy of “Everything you need and nothing you don’t’’. It is their constant trust in us which has further helped us feature as the number 3 online smartphone brand in the market,” Sharma added.

Sharma further said the brand will continue to focus on delivering “the best and compelling proposition” in 2021.

“Poco after becoming an independent brand at the beginning of this year is gaining momentum in the Indian smartphone market. Its smartphones like
Poco C3 and Poco M2 were the main drivers of this growth,” said Shilpi Jain, Research Analyst, Counterpoint.
