“The official work towards common interests of strengthening technology as a tool for inclusion, technology, cooperation and boosting of regional telecom, manufacturing and infrastructure, etc. The ITU office in Delhi shall foster collaborative partnerships between ITU and the participating countries, and it shall also act as a melting pot of ideas by bringing in startups and
industry<\/a> into the innovation game,” K Rajaraman<\/a>, secretary, DoT, said.

The telecom secretary said in a keynote address at ‘
India<\/a> Telecom 2023’ event jointly organised by the Department of Telecommunications and Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC<\/a>) Wednesday.

He said India is deeply committed to the goals of connecting the unconnected, making telecoms services affordable and making it inclusive and accessible to all sections of society.

Rajaraman<\/a> noted that the new Area Office and Innovation Center of the ITU in Delhi will also provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge sharing, and it is expected to commence with several useful workshops in various areas of new technologies.

“It will act as a hub for startups, researchers and government policymakers to converge and to share experiences that enable greater good for this area, taking into account that all of us in this area are largely developing countries that are focused on the bottom of the pyramid,” he said.

A UN Way Finder App was also launched at the event.
