Chandrasekhar who is also the minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship also asked the industry captains to focus on emerging technologies of the future like 5G and make use of the various sops that the government is offering in the form of PLI<\/a> and capital subsidy to manufacture locally.
He said that the number one priority for the ministry is about expanding the digital economy to a trillion dollars. \"And that is the mission that the Prime Minister has tasked me with to achieve it through a combination of services and manufacturing. So my first ask from CII would be, especially to the larger technology companies in this country, look at areas that are really opening up now and are going to be significant value opportunities. Even if you are not a manufacturing company there is a really good opportunity in the form of PLI, Capital subsidies that are coming.\" He also said that there are other higher value-added areas like R&D eR&D, SAAS which need to be foccused on.
\"I would refer CII to play the role of a step function evangelist for the customer. So, we have the opportunity. Let's get out there and figure out how these opportunities and what we need from the government to help us with this opportunity,\" he added.
