普拉萨德和拉贾为电信费用争吵

Raja, who had to resign and go to jail over the alleged \u20182G scam\u2019 during the UPA era, set the ball rolling when he raised the issue of statutory dues faced by telecom companies in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling. Referring to news reports, Raja asked why the Centre is now approaching the SC seeking staggered payment of statutory dues by telecom companies. \u201cWho gave this government the concession to seek staggered payment of statutory dues,\u201d he wanted to know.

Prasad replied that the \u201carguments (about statutory payment) in the case are still going on in the Supreme Court\u201d. He said the government is committed to ensuring a \u201cfair and transparent\u201d telecom sector. The minister said there were around 90 crore customers and the government has to look at balancing three factors \u2013\u2013survival of the sector, compliance with the court order and the interest of consumers.
