NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Realme<\/a> is providing free COVID-19 insurance cover worth Rs 2 lakh to over 1000 preferred retail partners in the country.

COVID insurance<\/a> to not just you but also to three other members of your family,” Madhav Sheth, Vice President, Realme and CEO, Realme India<\/a> said in a letter to its Royal Club partners, which are its preferred retail partners.

Realme India is providing an insurance cover worth Rs 2 lakhs. The insurance also provides a cover of Rs 2000 for road ambulance. There are no restrictions on the amount of room rent and ICU facility, as per the letter accessed by ET Telecom.

The COVID insurance also provides a cover of 30 days for pre-hospitalisation and a cover of 60 days for post-hospitalization. The COVID insurance can be availed by patients admitted in both, government and private hospitals, as per the letter.

“We highly value the trust you have continuously shown in us, and we plan to continue serving you in the best way possible, with the Royal Club credited especially for your well-being and betterment,” Sheth said in the letter.

Realme expects offline channel to contribute more than 40% of its overall smartphone sales in 2020.

The handset maker is expanding distribution channels into even tier-4 and tier-5 towns, aiming to have over 400 distributors on board to cover over 35,000 mobile stores pan-India.

\"The investment from the Realme is at par to amplify the process and it will be having 5000+ promoters and a solid investment in their training, store branding, and mass media marketing in India,\" the company said recently said in a statement.

ETTelecom had reported Realme was planning to expand its direct employee base to 10,000 by the end of this year and was in talks with its suppliers to set up business in India to support local manufacturing.

“We will be expanding our employee base to 10,000 by the end of this year while providing more employment and adding on to the ‘Make in India’ initiative by the Government,” Sheth had told ETTelecom.
