<\/figure>New Delhi: The government has made import registration compulsory for a range of electronic integrated circuits<\/a> under chip imports<\/a> monitoring system (CHIMS) from August 1.The Directorate General of Foreign Trade<\/a> (DGFT) said that under the import monitoring system, importers would have to submit advance information in an online system for inbound shipments of these products and obtain an automatic registration number by paying the fee.
The items include electronic integrated circuits--processors and controllers, electronic integrated circuits\u2013memories, and electronic integrated circuits--amplifiers.
<\/div><\/div>\u201cImport policy<\/a> of items listed...shall be subject to CHIMS with effect from August1 this year,\u201d the DGFT said in a notification. The ministry had earlier made a similar process for imports of several iron and steel goods, coal, and aluminium and copper items, in an attempt to reduce import of unnecessary goods and boost domestic manufacturing.
