“This Chatbot has been developed by Jio Haptik for the Govt as per their requirement, free of cost, and updated on real time, as per instructions from NeGD and MyGov ( both under MEITY),” a person familiar with the matter said.
People can access the chatbot by sending a WhatsApp message to the number +91 9013151515. The bot will provide the right information at the touch of a button while preventing the spread of this pandemic across the country by following basic hygiene practices.
“With the Whatsapp user base in India crossing over 400 million, this is an ideal medium to route basic hygiene practices around the virus,” the person said.
The real time updates will curb circulation of false information that can cause mass hysteria while educating the population about the present scenario.

The chatbot will offer verified data from the Ministry of Health and will offer FAQs pertaining to the novel coronavirus, including necessary precautionary measures, symptoms, correct & incorrect facts, helpline numbers, affected cases in the region, Government advisories (including travel) and informational videos among others.

“The trend of mass-forwarding the messages without verifying their content often leads to the dissemination of incorrect and misleading information which can worsen the situation. Jio Haptik is supporting GoI to curb such misinterpretations,” the person said.
