NEW DELHI: RNT Capital Advisors<\/a>, the investment platform set up by Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata<\/a>, and International Finance Corp<\/a>, the private sector investment arm of the World Bank<\/a>, are in discussions to invest in mobile point-of-sale (PoS) device maker Mswipe<\/a> Technologies.The two investors are separately in talks to potentially participate in an estimated $25 million funding round for the Mumbai-headquartered Mswipe Technologies, according to sources aware of the developments. The discussions are still in early stages, they said. \u201cThere are a few term sheets on the table, but nothing has been signed yet,\u201c said a source on the condition of anonymity.
\u201cThe round could potentially value the company at $250-$300 million,\u201c a second source said. The upcoming round is expected to be led by the six-year-old company's existing backers, a list that includes US-based hedge fund<\/a> Falcon<\/a> Edge Capital, investment company Meru Capital, cab hailing app Ola<\/a>, DSG Consumer Partners, and Matrix Partners. Investment bank, Avendus Capital, which acted as the financial advisor to Mswipe's last funding round in July 2015, is once again handling the mandate.
<\/div><\/div>Mswipe's latest fund raising was first reported by Mint earlier this month. Emails sent to Mswipe Technologies, RNT Capital Advisors, and International Finance Corp did not elicit any response till the time of going to press. If successful, this will be the first major round of funding by Mswipe, since it raised Rs 160 crore in July 2015, a development that was first reported by ET.
The development also comes at a time when Axis Bank<\/a>, one of Mswipe's early backers, is looking to sell its stake in the company , and has initiated proceedings for the same. It is yet unclear whether the private sector lender has found any takers for its 8% stake in the company , or the valuation it is seeking for the same.
