Apple<\/a> and Samsung,” said Tarun Pathak, analyst at Counterpoint Research. He said the Note 8 and new iPhone<\/a> series will expand the premium segment in India – currently around 5% of the overall market — by almost 25% on-year during October-December.

As of June, Samsung led the premium segment with 55% share, followed by Apple at 30% and OnePlus at 9%. However, citing Gfk data, senior vice president-mobile business at
Samsung India<\/a> Asim Warsi said Samsung had a 68% share of the premium segment in July, which is expected to grow over 70%, due to the Note 8.

\nHe said Note 8 has already clocked about 250,000 registrations through Amazon, Samsung's own online store and offline retail stores. Shipping will begin from Navratri, or September 21, with pre-bookings beginning on September 13.

To push sales, the Korean smartphone leader will introduce
